KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 (Bernama) -- Changchun, the capital of Jilin Province in China - ranked as the happiest city for ten consecutive years - will host the Changchun International Marathon 2018 on May 27 with participation of more than 30,000 sports enthusiasts from local and abroad.
The event marks Changchun's achievement working on sports livelihood which encourages more citizens to enjoy a healthy lifestyle through various national fitness activities, a statement from Changchun Municipal Government said.
Last year, the city marathon was held successfully for the first time and it has impressed the runners with the beautiful natural scenery, the favorable humanity environment and the civilized enthusiasm of Changchun citizens.
Changchun is one of the two cities in China that cultivated many Summer and Winter Olympic Games champions due to its superior ice and snow resource and livable environment including The Vasaloppet international cross-country skiing Festival.
Changchun's sports department has continuously explored the ways to promote mass sports as 70 per cent of Changchun's annual revenue is used for the benefits of people's livelihood which gained from government legislation and increasing investment.
Previously, the city has made efforts on people's sports livelihood called ?Healthy Changchun, Sports first' which resulted in improve residents' fitness awareness, physical quality and quality of life.
According to statistics, the city's sports population has been over 51 per cent whereby people in Changchun could find a fitness site around eight minutes on foot with special sports managers in the community.
