BIGGEST POST-ROCK MUSIC FESTIVAL COMING TO ASIA NEXT MONTH

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 (Bernama) -- Asia's largest post-rock music festival, the Offside Music Festival, will be held in Anji Zhejiang, on Nov 4 to 5.

A number of well-known post-rock bands, including Wang Wen, Mooncake, and April Rain, are invited to the two-day event.

According to a statement, the music festival is different from the performance lineup of the traditional music festival as it advocates for "backing to the initial music".

The goal of the music festival is to connect everyone with the sensation by music and body instead of words and to get "offside" from the status quo.

To emphasise the theme of this music festival and fuse into “natural whispers" and "instrumental resonance", the organisers deliberately selected Anji city, where is famous for the bamboo forests and white tea, and hope that every aspect of the nature and humanity will be echoed, ultimately creating a utopia, where nature, music and people coexist in harmony.

In addition to the musical performances, the organisers will establish the “Offside Community” with all participants, encompassing four main themes, namely, unity, responsibility, individuality and participation.

Moreover, it covers society, sustainable development, multiple expression, shared space, and other aspects, for building a public platform to stimulate more sensitive perception and fresh imagination of music, art, and life.

MHTC AND CANCER CARE EXPERTS JOIN FORCES, FUELLED BY #THRIVE365, TO SHINE A LIGHT ON BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Oct 16 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In conjunction with breast cancer awareness month, the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) together with Subang Jaya Medical Centre, organised a thought-provoking panel discussion titled "'My family has a history of breast cancer, should I be worried? What screening should I do?" at the MHTC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. The event aimed to create more awareness on the importance of early detection and provide valuable insights into breast cancer prevention and screening methods.

The panel was joined by Dr. Teh Mei Sze, a Consultant Breast Surgeon (Oncoplastic), and Ms. Yoon Sook Yee, a Certified Genetic Counsellor, both shared their expertise and knowledge on breast cancer prevention, genetic factors, and the latest advancements in screening techniques.

The panel discussion is aligned with this year's breast cancer awareness month theme, Thrive365. This theme emphasises the importance of a holistic approach to breast cancer prevention and encourages individuals to prioritise their overall well-being throughout the year.

Breast cancer affects both genders, and it is crucial to raise awareness about the disease among men as well. According to recent statistics, breast cancer cases in Malaysia have been on the rise, with approximately 5,000 new cases reported each year. While some cases are hereditary, comprising only 5-10%, the majority of breast cancers result from factors like environment and lifestyle. Early detection plays a vital role in improving survival rates, and regular screenings are recommended for individuals above the age of 40.

Farizal B. Jaafar, Acting Chief Executive Officer of MHTC, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, "This event is a testament to our commitment in the battle against breast cancer. We are delighted to collaborate with one of the finalists of our Flagship Medical Tourism Hospital programme, Subang Jaya Medical Centre, to organise this session today. We hope that with such platforms, we can revive the idea of being more aware and more “alert” around breast cancer, a disease that for the most part is detectable in early stages, with better outcomes for those who are diagnosed with it.”

MHTC remains dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer and saving lives. Through initiatives like discussions, MHTC aims to empower individuals with knowledge and encourage proactive steps towards breast cancer prevention and early detection.

Pangea Leather Introduces Antimicrobial Properties in Standard, Advanced Products

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 (Bernama) -- Pangea, a global supplier of automotive leather, announced its standard and advanced products hold antimicrobial properties without the need for chemical additives commonly advertised to improve this performance.

The tanned substrate rich in natural components and the leather coating layers act to inhibit the biological functions of contaminating microbes tested, meaning they cannot grow or reproduce on such a surface.

According to a statement, Pangea, a tier-3 supplier to over 25 automotive brands, commissioned testing of its leathers to antimicrobial activity against three clinically relevant pathogens, thus as a results, these leathers have the ability to reduce living bacterial cells by 99.99 per cent.

The testing was performed by an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certified product test laboratory in North America and replicated in Europe for the PureTan formulated leather products in 2023 by another accredited lab.

Pangea leathers inherently carry antimicrobial characteristics, without coating additives. Advancements in leather manufacturing and testing applications have made it easier to keep seating surfaces as clean as can be.

Pangea's announcement is a significant development in the automotive industry, as it provides a natural solution to the growing demand for antimicrobial products.

With Pangea's standard and advanced products, car buyers can rest assured that they are getting a high-quality, safe and clean product.
