INT'L CULTURAL INDUSTRIES FAIR OPENS IN SHENZHEN TO PROMOTE EXCHANGES AND MUTUAL LEARNING AMONG CIVILIZATIONS

AsiaNet 100136

SHENZHEN, China, June 14, 2023 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/--

The 19th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair kicked off in Shenzhen in south China's Guangdong Province on Wednesday, which is expected to inject new impetus into the development of the country's cultural industry.

The five-day national-level fair, featuring mainly offline events, has attracted more than 3,500 government bodies, cultural organizations and enterprises, according to Shenzhen Municipal People's Government.

With over 100,000 kinds of exhibits from cultural and creative industries both at home and abroad, the number of exhibitors rising from over 700 in the first exhibition to 3,596 now, and the number of countries and regions for visit, exhibition, and purchase growing from over 10 to 108, the International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) has been growing year after year in terms of exhibition scale, visitor count, internationalization level, and trading volume since its foundation in 2004. It has become an important driver for the development of China's cultural sector, an important platform for Chinese culture to go global, and an important window for expanding cultural opening-up.

Civilizations shine through exchanges and are enriched through mutual learning. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the inception of the Belt and Road Initiative. Over 300 overseas exhibitors from over 50 countries and regions have been introduced into the Cultural and Tourism Consumption Hall -- the Belt and Road International Pavilion of ICIF. Zeng Xianglai, Director of the Office of the Organizing Committee of ICIF, said that in addition to on-site matching between domestic and foreign exhibitors and buyers, the organizers also invited 20,000 overseas professional visitors from 108 countries and regions to participate online and offline.

Many overseas exhibitors stated that by participating in ICIF, they had not only met many customers from China and around the world but also personally felt the co-prosperity of civilizations through exchanges and mutual learning, just like beautiful flowers blooming together.

At the Brazilian booth, a cool backpack drew much attention. This backpack with the LED-screen "eyes", named "Iron Man", is made in Shenzhen and sells well in South America. Ge Xiaoling, the China Liaison Officer of the Sino-Brazilian Cultural Exchange Association, said that such cross-cultural "top-selling" items were nothing new in cultural trade between China and Brazil.

Either taking their proud designs and products to look for buyers in China or hoping to bring cultural elements with Chinese characteristics back to their own countries and regions, more and more overseas exhibitors are coming along with their cultural exhibits, indicating that ICIF is becoming an important platform for exchanges and mutual learning among global civilizations.

Since its founding in 2004, the cultural fair has seen a continuous expansion in its exhibition scale, visitor number and degree of internationalization. It has become an important platform to promote the development and opening up of the Chinese cultural industries.

EB5 CAPITAL'S LOS ANGELES PROPER HOTEL (JF12) PROJECT RECEIVES I-829 APPROVALS

WASHINGTON, June 12 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EB5 Capital announced today that investors in its Downtown Los Angeles Proper Hotel (JF12) project have begun receiving I-829 approvals from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). USCIS issues I-829 approvals, or permanent residency, to investors who have demonstrated that their EB-5 investment resulted in the creation of at least ten full-time jobs, and who have also completed their two-year conditional residency period.

“An I-829 approval is a major milestone in the EB-5 immigration and investment process,” said Mariana Gomez, Senior Vice President of Operations and Compliance. “It officially completes the immigration process for an EB-5 investor and confirms that a project has fulfilled all the requirements under the Program, including job creation.”

Proper Hotel (JF12) is a 13-story, 148-room luxury lifestyle hotel in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. This historical building was initially a private club in the 1920s frequented by members of Hollywood. The property now features three distinct food and beverage spaces operating in partnership with James Beard Foundation award winners. It also has 14,000 square feet of meeting space and a rooftop pool with unobstructed panoramic views of the city. The hotel opened to the public in October 2021 and the redevelopment created over 1,000 EB-5 qualifying jobs, more than enough jobs to cover all the EB-5 investors who invested in the project.

“A regional center’s proven success to help investors achieve permanent residency in the United States should be a key requirement for someone new who is considering an EB-5 investment,” said Natalia Pronina, Vice President of Investor Relations at EB5 Capital. “We look forward to seeing additional I-829 approval notices for this project in the coming weeks.”

ST KITTS AND NEVIS CITIZENS CAN NOW TRAVEL EASIER AND FASTER TO CANADA

Basseterre, June 8 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Government of St Kitts and Nevis is proud to announce that after sustained and meaningful dialogue between itself and the government of Canada, Kittians and Nevisians can now travel visa-free to Canada.

The policy applies to St Kitts and Nevis nationals who have had a Canadian visa over the past ten (10) years, as well as those who have a current non-immigrant US visa.

St Kitts and Nevis nationals who fit the above categories are required to apply online for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), for which a response is usually received the same day.

First time applicants who do not have a US or Canadian visa are still required to apply for a visa to enter Canada.

Sean Fraser, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced the addition of 13 countries to the eTA program, of which St Kitts and Nevis is one. Eligible citizens will be able to travel faster, easily, and more affordably to Canada for up to six months for either business or leisure.

“This is indeed positive news for our citizens, and we are happy about the strength of our relationship with Canada and look forward to announcing more positive aspects resulting from this partnership,” said Prime Minister Terrance Drew.

As a CARICOM (Caribbean Community) and fellow Commonwealth, St Kitts and Nevis is an important partner for Canada. Both countries share strong cultural and people-to-people ties.

GLOBE GROUP SHARES STORY OF PURPOSE-LED TRANSFORMATION IN UN'S VISION 2045 DOCUMENTARY SERIES

Globe Group participates in the UN’s Vision 2045, a campaign that features documentary films about how businesses from around the world are taking collective action for a better global future (Graphic: Business Wire)

MANILA, Philippines, June 6 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Reflecting its long-standing commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Globe Group is participating in the UN’s Vision 2045, a campaign that features documentary films about how businesses from around the world are taking collective action for a better global future.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20230604005086/en/

In its documentary, the Globe Group’s senior leaders talk about the company’s purpose-led transformation – innovating with compassion, care, and kindness to deliver life-enabling services to Filipinos.

Globe Group President and CEO Ernest Cu looked back at how Globe transformed from telco to techco, turning the business around from a far-second player when he came in 2008 to an industry-leader and gamechanger. Behind this success is Globe’s mission to serve.

“Key to every telecom company is the quality of its network infrastructure. A good network spells a good service experience for our customers. We introduced to the Filipino the concept of what a smartphone was. This brought about a new age of data, which in turn spelled partners and new life-changing experiences. We then asked ourselves ‘what was next?’ We decided that we would become a purpose-led company,” said Cu.

Globe Chief Commercial Officer Issa Guevarra-Cabreira shared how Globe’s expansion is rooted in the company’s desire to help enrich and enable the digital life of its prepaid users, the bulk of Globe’s customer base, through greater access.

“Speaking to customers, I realized that prepaid users— the vast majority of whom come from the lowest socio-economic brackets— had the same desire for innovation as everyone else and, arguably, an even greater need for digital enablement. Thus we began to explore how we could make it financially feasible for Filipinos to access the benefits of the internet,” Guevarra-Cabreira said.

Globe’s transformation was further accelerated by the pandemic, when many day-to-day transactions and activities swiftly shifted to online platforms. In the midst of the crisis, Globe’s platforms shone through as life savers. There’s GCash, the country’s #1 financial services app, which enabled convenient digital payments, fund transfers, and even provided options for a savings account, investments and a credit line to those in need. KonsultaMD, the Globe Group’s telehealth app, meanwhile, provided accessible doctor consultations when Philippine hospitals and their personnel were stretched beyond capacity.

“We came into the pandemic as a company and came out as a group of companies. We are now shifting to become a digital solutions platform and have seen incredible success in bringing pioneering tech-enabled services that address Filipinos’ needs. Our goal is to continuously grow and fortify the Globe Group by providing more products and services that can address the daily struggles of Filipinos through digital solutions,” said Cu.

As it continues to grow, the Globe Group is on the constant lookout for startups from around the world with an aligned vision for the future and a mission to make positive change. Through its venture capital firm Kickstart Ventures, Globe has been supporting companies that tackle some of the world’s biggest problems, from food security to pollution, among others.

“We are very conscious of our role on this planet and of our responsibility to keep delivering life-enabling solutions. Our hope is that by partnering with these companies, we can work towards much more ambitious goals, bigger solutions and tackling bigger problems that perhaps on our own we won’t be able to address,” said Minette Navarrete, Kickstart President.

The bedrock of Globe’s expansion and transformation is its core telco business, where it continues to operate sustainably. Globe was the first publicly-listed Philippine-based company to commit to setting science-based targets and was recently recognized by Standard Insights as the Most Sustainability-Driven Network Operator in the Philippines. The company was also included as one of Asia Pacific’s Climate Leaders in a list developed by the Financial Times and Global Market Research Firm, Statista.

Key to this are its efforts to green its network and supply chain and push for greater energy efficiency across its operations. As Guevarra-Cabreira said: “We are working on taking our network beyond reliability to sustainability. We continue to green our network operations as part of our net zero strategy.”

Even as it expands to new business horizons, Globe is committed to creating positive societal impact. Through its flagship campaign, The Hapag Movement, Globe aims to address involuntary hunger through supplemental feeding and livelihood programs, leveraging a network of partners and the power of digital platforms.

With this holistic approach to driving solutions while grounded on its commitment to serve, Globe is living up to its purpose.

“This is how we will help the Philippines become a country where families' dreams come true, businesses flourish and the nation is admired,” said Cu.

OLON ENTERS IN ADC MARKET

MILAN, Italy, May 31 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- OLON Group, a global leader in the development and production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) for CDMO and general markets, announces the start of construction of a new facility at its Rodano site (Milan, Italy) which will be entirely dedicated to managing and producing Ultra-Potent compounds, used for example as payloads and payload-linkers for antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), one of the most promising emerging cancer therapies, which combines the effective killing power of small molecule cytotoxins and the highly specific targeting ability of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs).

Actually, about 80% of the ADCs either approved or under development contains this type of payload, such as Dolastatins or Maytansnoids,” said Giorgio Bertolini, Senior VP R&D Olon Group, “and there are also other highly strategic classes of cytotoxic payloads, such as Anthracyclines, Camptothecin and Calicheamicin.”

The Italian group, with years of expertise in HPAPIs, has invested €22 million in a new facility dedicated to these ultra-potent compounds. The ultra-high-containment production line will produce high-potency and toxic products and will therefore reach containment level OEB6 (target OEL 10 ng/m3).

The new project foresees the complete construction of a new building, within which a second ‘shell’ will be built, containing the production facility and the quality control and research and development areas, as well as all auxiliary facilities. This complete, closed-loop system will include all steps of the process: synthesis, isolation, drying and analysis: an ultra-high-containment plant.

The first phase of the construction, to build the payload research and development area, has already begun and completion is foreseen by H1, 2024. Once completed, the company will move on to the second stage of finalizing the production line by creating the QC and GMP Production areas, with the installation of industrial production equipment.

For the Italian-based contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) which has worked with highly-potent APIs (HPAPIs) – including anti-cancer drugs and cytotoxic – for over half a century, the decline of the blockbuster, high-volume model in oncology and the rise of niche therapies based on precision medicine are creating new opportunities for continued growth.

Olon is one of few suppliers in the global API market able to integrate every level of containment from the initial API development to commercial manufacturing and from a few grams to hundreds of kilograms.

MITGO OPENS NEW OFFICES IN INDONESIA AND SINGAPORE, EXPANDING PRESENCE IN APAC

SINGAPORE & JAKARTA, Indonesia, May 31 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Mitgo, a global IT/MarTech company, announces the opening of two offices in Indonesia (Jakarta) and Singapore. Admitad, a global partner network, is the first of Mitgo’s businesses to enter these markets.

Admitad has been actively working with businesses and publishers in Indonesia and Singapore for several years now. Its network counts regional players such as adidas, Norton, Shein, Aliexpress, and Banggood as long-term partners. The company also has a significant share of the MarTech market in India. The opening of these new offices will help Mitgo to make further inroads into the Southeast Asian market.

Neha Kulwal, Managing Director, Mitgo APAC, will lead the company's expansion. Listed as one of the 50 Most Influential Digital Leaders by CMO Asia and included in BW BusinessWorld’s 40 under 40, Kulwal's extensive experience in the Southeast Asian market will be a key driving force behind Mitgo's success.

“I am confident that APAC, given its immense growth opportunities, will live up to its full potential in driving the business to greater heights. I intend to grow our APAC operations by replicating the India success story.” - Neha Kulwal, Managing Director, Mitgo APAC.

Indonesia and Singapore’s e-commerce sectors are experiencing a period of incredible growth. In the first five months of 2023, the number of orders Admitad publishers in Indonesia generated for brands doubled year-on-year. Admitad gained a 15% increase in advertisers and a 30% increase in publishers in both regions.

"These markets are poised for explosive growth, similar to the European market several years ago. We want to be the first to take advantage of this trend, enabling local companies and publishers to accelerate growth and unlock new revenue streams. With Neha Kulwal leading our efforts, we are confident in securing Mitgo's position in these markets, further expanding our global footprint." - Alexander Bachmann, CEO of Admitad and Mitgo.

The company plans to invest in the local digital environment by recruiting local talent, sponsoring events and supporting promising new projects.

Future plans involve further expanding the company’s footprint across APAC, enabling businesses in other markets to take advantage of the global reach they provide.

"Our entry into Singapore and Indonesia will pave the way for expansion into other promising countries in the region, such as Vietnam and the Philippines." - Bruno Acar, Chief International Officer, Mitgo.
