ERICK THOHIR MAKES IT EASIER FOR GOOD CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 (Bernama) -- Good corporate governance (GCG) helps state-owned enterprises (SOEs) increase their value, investor confidence, develop businesses and manage risks. Therefore, SOEs must implement GCG to fulfill their responsibility to the country, shareholders and the public, according to analysts.

In Indonesia, GCG implementation has been mandated at all SOEs under Erick Thohir’s leadership as SOEs Minister.

According to Thohir, all SOEs must apply the five GCG principles outlined in the SOEs Minister’s Regulation Number PER-09/MBU/2012 concerning Amendments to the SOEs Minister Regulation Number PER-01/MBU/2011 concerning the Implementation of Good Corporate Governance in SOEs.

The first GCG principle involves transparency in decision-making and disclosing material and relevant information regarding the company; second is accountability in terms of clarity of function to ensure company management is working effectively; third pertains to the company management responsibility to obey applied law and regulations; fourth is independence in managing the company in a professional way without conflict of interest and pressure from certain parties; while the last is fairness or justice and equality in fulfilling the rights of stakeholders' interests that arise based on agreements, laws, and regulations.

According to a statement, under Thohir’s leadership, several SOEs have implemented GCG.

To comply with GCG principles, state-owned energy company PT Pertamina has increased the involvement of legal institutions in its business processes and company projects.

"We are committed to continued transformation, transparency, and professionalism in the Ministry of SOEs as well as our SOEs. One of our breakthroughs in transparency is opening all SOEs' financial reports to President Joko Widodo and the Finance Minister,” said Thohir, during whose term, the SOEs Ministry also made other major breakthroughs in bureaucratic reform by making bold moves.

Meanwhile, he said the ministry also successfully merged four state-owned port operators Pelindo I, Pelindo II, Pelindo III, and Pelindo IV into one company, with each operating ports in different areas, adding that the Pelindo merger was successfully realised in October 2021.

With this merger, Pelindo has emerged as the eighth-largest container terminal operator in the world, with a total of 16.7 million TEUs.

TACONIC BIOSCIENCES® LAUNCHES CAGE+™, REDEFINING COLONY MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS FOR THE MODERN LABORATORY

Stewardship Approach Safeguards All Elements of Contract Breeding Services

RENSSELAER, N.Y., Feb 22 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Taconic Biosciences, a global leader in providing drug discovery animal model solutions, launched Cage+, a holistic, innovative approach to murine contract breeding services. Cage+ delivers complete stewardship of projects from start to finish, allowing investigators to focus on research with confidence that animal model supply is reliable, at the highest quality, and on budget.

Biomedical and pharmaceutical research has profoundly changed over the past two decades. Studies are more advanced and rapid-paced, compressing the time to produce experimental data required to support well-informed decisions. The novel animal models generated to support these advanced studies have become more complex and precise. Yet, while the contract research service industry has kept pace with biomedical research advancements, the contract breeding industry has remained largely unchanged since the early 1990s. Most providers continue to place the project planning and management burden on investigators, who have neither the time nor expertise to direct service providers on how best to design and manage scaled production of complex animal models.

Taconic’s Cage+ Colony Management Solutions closes the gap between biomedical research program demands and the antiquated approach offered by many contract breeding services. Cage+ employs a holistic approach, combining standard animal breeding and husbandry elements with comprehensive breeding design expertise, project-specific methodology to reduce animal welfare concerns, budget monitoring, and proactive project management and communication. Additionally, this all-encompassing program rapidly expands breeding production through expert-led embryology methods, delivers internationally harmonized animal health standards, and includes the eTACONIC® web-based project management tool, providing users access to colony information 24/7.

Cage+ allows investigators to fully leverage proven expertise in complex model design and breeding to advance research programs. When coupled with Taconic’s Custom Model Generation Solutions, Cage+ Colony Management Solutions brings a comprehensive and seamless “design to management” service, allowing clients to leverage the most complex genetically engineered models from initial design through to scaled production of study cohorts.

“Researchers should demand better from contract breeding service providers, and this view is the driving factor behind our Cage+ stewardship-based approach to colony management solutions,” said Dr. John Couse, vice president, scientific services. “With Cage+, researchers will view Taconic as an extension of their team, leveraging the collaboration of scientists and experts. Our approach allows investigators to focus their time, energy, and resources on research while trusting their custom model animal development and production to Taconic.”

To learn more about how Cage+ can improve your colony management experience and outcomes, please call 1-888-TACONIC (1-888-822-6642) in the US, +45 70 23 04 05 in Europe, or email info@taconic.com

  • Agreement will encompass the development of four power plants operating with two high efficiency INNIO Jenbacher biogas engines each
  • Eight Jenbacher engines will operate on biogas, providing a total generating capacity of more than 8 megawatts (MW)
  • Eight INNIO Jenbacher engines will run on 100% palm oil wastes while capturing methane

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates, Feb 22 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- INNIO announced today that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Concord Renewable Energy SDN BHD (Concord Group) to partner in building four power plants across Malaysia fueled by palm oil wastes. The MOU signing took place at Dubai Expo 2020, in a festivity ceremony organized and held by the Malaysian Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (KeTSA) for Sustainable Energy and Natural Resources week at Malaysia Pavilion, which took place January 30 – February 5, 2022. The project emphasizes Malaysia’s efforts to achieve its COP26 commitments in moving away from fossil fuels and increasing renewable energy projects. The power plants, built in various parts of Malaysia, will deliver sustainable power to the grid while capturing methane. Each plant is expected to operate two INNIO Jenbacher high-efficiency biogas engines, collectively delivering more than 8 MW of power to the grid.

The Jenbacher Type 4 engines, for which INNIO will also supply long-term servicing, are known for their dependability, efficiency and fuel & solution flexibility. This makes them an excellent technology to advance Malaysia’s plans to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels. As part of its COP26 commitment, Malaysia recently raised its National Renewable Energy Capacity target from a 20% increase to a 31% increase of renewables in the national energy mix by 2025.

“INNIO has more than 500 Jenbacher engines currently operating on biogas and deploying about 1 GW in the ASEAN region,” said Carsten Dommermuth, Vice President and General Manager APAC at INNIO Jenbacher. “Our Jenbacher Type 4 biogas engine fleet delivers reliable and fuel-efficient heat and power, where the additional surplus energy is fed into the power grid as a renewable, dispatchable power source. We are pleased to partner with the Concord Group to provide technology that helps Malaysia meet its climate goals.”

While supplying clean energy throughout Malaysia, Concord Group and INNIO will be further advancing the country’s climate change mitigation objectives through the sourcing of the fuel. Methane gas emitted by existing palm oil mills will be reappropriated to produce power.

“Having successfully worked with INNIO in the past, we can think of no better technology to support our clean energy goals,” said Concord Renewable Energy Sdn Bhd CEO, Datuk Khairuddin bin Tan Sri Mohd Hussin. “We look forward to continuing to work with INNIO’s advanced Jenbacher technology to help us meet growing energy demand while reducing emissions.”

DALLAS, Feb 16 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Pink collar workers around the world have spoken: Mary Kay Inc., the iconic beauty and entrepreneurship development company, has again been voted a top place to work. In the first 60 days of 2022, the brand has garnered five prestigious employer awards through Forbes and Kincentric in the United States, Europe, Czech Republic, Spain, and Malaysia. The recognition comes on the heels of several other employment honors earned throughout the past three years.

This press release features multimedia. View the full release here: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20220215005276/en/

Forbes Best Employers of 2022 were identified in an independent survey taken by approximately 60,000 American employees working for companies with more than 1,000 workers in the United States. In total, 1,000 employers were recognized across 25 different industry sectors. This isn’t the first time Mary Kay has landed a coveted Forbes employer list—recently, Forbes has also named Mary Kay a Best Mid-Size Employer, Best Employer for Diversity, and Best Employer for Women.

Mary Kay’s Kincentric employer awards in Europe, Czech Republic, Spain and Malaysia are a result of a robust assessment that measures and identifies organizations who have transformed their people practices to drive better business results. According to Kincentric, almost 8 of 10 participating Mary Kay employees responded “yes” when asked: “Mary Kay inspires me to do my best work every day,” and 87% of employees responded affirmatively to the statement: “This organization’s mission provides meaningful direction to me.” That’s 19 points higher than the Kincentric global average.

“Mary Kay is honored to once again be recognized for industry-leading employee practices and engagement scores,” said Melinda Foster Sellers, Chief People Officer at Mary Kay Inc. “Our people are the foundation of the incredible work we do around the world and are the reason we’ve remained a top beauty brand nearly 60 years after our founding. We have a simple employment philosophy at Mary Kay: if our employees come to work every day convinced they’re helping make the world a better place, then we’re on the right track.”

That philosophy has informed every internal employee decision over six decades. As a result, 41% of Mary Kay employees globally have been with the company for over ten years, 75% of new roles are promoted from within, and the brand offers several programs aimed at professional development, innovative thinking, and employee well-being. Mary Kay offers employees a robust menu of affordable medical, dental and vision benefits, life insurance, savings accounts for healthcare and dependent care, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, and a retirement savings plan that includes both a 401k and a generous profit-sharing program. This commitment to sharing success is a cornerstone of Mary Kay’s commitment to the people who enable it.

“I’m perhaps most proud of our diversity efforts,” added Sellers. “As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, more than 1,000 of our leaders have taken unconscious bias training with more on the way. We also enlist the help of third-party business verification and diversity data vendors to assess our supply chain to ensure we’re appropriately representing women, minority, and veteran-owned businesses.”

As of March 2021, 61% of Mary Kay’s global workforce is female and 64% of market leaders are female.

i2c releases first-of-its-kind report on crypto-backed cards

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 3 -- i2c Inc, a leading provider of digital payment and banking technology, has released a first-of-its-kind report on crypto-backed cards, one of the world’s fastest-growing card categories.

The report examines account and transactional data from more than 4,000 traditional and crypto-backed card programs, across 40 countries and three continents.

With more than five million crypto-backed cards running on its global platform, i2c is the world’s premier partner for issuing and processing cryptocurrency cards.

Unlike many crypto studies, the report is notable for being based on actual behaviour (transactional data) as well as verified demographic data as opposed to respondent statements.

Among the report’s highlights were findings that seem to challenge common perceptions about crypto users and reinforce both the global nature and borderless benefits associated with the technology.

This includes 45 per cent of crypto cardholders are over age 35; crypto-backed card programs transact cross-border at more than twice the rate of traditional cards; and, crypto-backed card programs show higher dollar volumes (7 per cent) for cross-border transactions than traditional card programs.

“Crypto-backed cards are presenting the payments industry with groundbreaking firsts while demonstrating what's possible for a truly global payments program,” said Jim McCarthy, president of i2c in a statement.

“We saw crypto-related accounts grow exponentially over the past year along with innovations and engagement levels that are changing the way we think about payments and cardholders.”
