PROGRAM DUTA GURU TEACHERS LEARN WINNING FORMULA FROM MERCEDES-AMG PETRONAS FORMULA ONE DRIVER LEWIS HAMILTON

KUALA LUMPUR, April 14 (Bernama) -- Yayasan PETRONAS through its signature education programme, Program Duta Guru (PDG)  recently collaborated with Petrosains to host a special sharing session here, with seven-time world champion Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton.

The ‘PDG STEM Hub Special: Accelerate with Lewis Hamilton’ session saw 30 PDG teachers participating in the Formula One Speed Car project - a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) module that applies the Engineering Design Process (EDP) in designing the participants’ respective F1 racer vehicle models and manipulate the speed of their cars through coding to win the race.

The participants then had the opportunity to interact with Hamilton during a question and answer session with the British racing driver, moderated by Yayasan PETRONAS CEO, Shariah Nelly Francis.

In the session that was meant to further inspire and motivate the participants, the teachers were reminded that every child has the potential to be successful and that they play a critical role in nurturing and shaping the future of their students, especially in STEM education.

Launched in 2019, PDG is Yayasan PETRONAS’ flagship education programme in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE), that aims to improve and solidify the capability of local public-school teachers to promote students’ interest and competency in STEM subjects and enhance their higher order thinking skills (HOTS). The programme is in line with Yayasan PETRONAS’ goal of contributing towards 60:40 National STEM enrolment.

PRESTIGE BIOPHARMA ENTERS MOU WITH VAXINE FOR SUPPLY OF COVID-19 VACCINE AND CO-DEVELOPMENT OF COVID-19/INFLUENZA COMBO VACCINE

SINGAPORE, March 30 (Bernama-BUSINESS WIRE) -- Prestige Biopharma Limited and Vaxine Pty Ltd announced that the two organizations have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the supply of Vaxine’s COVID-19 Vaccine, Covax-19® (also known as Spikogen®) and on the co-development of COVID-19/influenza combo vaccine.

Vaxine has developed a state-of-the-art recombinant protein vaccine against COVID-19 that is manufactured using insect cells and includes Vaxine’s proprietary Advax polysaccharide adjuvant. This vaccine showed efficacy against infection by the Delta variant in Phase 3 clinical trials and already is in use in the Middle East. In December 2021, the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) granted a provisional determination allowing an application to be lodged for a provisional approval for this COVID-19 vaccine. Regulatory submissions are similarly underway in many other countries in parallel.

Industry experts remain concerned that the next pandemic might be even worse than Covid-19, creating an urgent need to develop strong and affordable pandemic vaccine platforms like the one Vaxine created for its Covid-19 and influenza pandemic vaccine production.

Through this MOU, Prestige and Vaxine will be building a long-term vaccine partnership, initially focused on manufacturing and commercialization of Vaxine’s Covid-19 vaccine and then as Covid-19 enters an endemic phase development of a next generation Covid-19/influenza combo vaccine as well as other vaccine projects.

The MOU will bring together Prestige’s global scale vaccine manufacturing capacity & research expertise with Vaxine’s innovative vaccine technologies including its vaccines against COVID-19, seasonal and pandemic influenza, hepatitis B, Japanese encephalitis, dengue, malaria, allergy and cancer.

Lisa S. Park, CEO of Prestige Biopharma, commented: “We are very pleased to enter into an MOU with Vaxine, given their great strengths in creating novel vaccine technologies. Vaxine’s efforts are aligned with Prestige’s ultimate aim to provide innovative vaccines for the era of endemic COVID. With this partnership, Prestige will be able to accelerate the development of more effective and accessible vaccines and at the same time contribute to the growing global demand for vaccines in response to COVID-19 and potential future pandemics.”

Dr Nikolai Petrovsky, CEO of Vaxine, commented: “We are delighted to enter into an MOU with Prestige Biopharma, given their exceptional capabilities in product development and large-scale drug manufacture. Through this partnership with Prestige we look forward to accelerating all the vaccines currently in our extensive development pipeline, starting with our Covax-19 vaccine and a Covid-19/influenza combo vaccine, but also including our pre-pandemic avian H7N9 influenza and Japanese encephalitis programs. Our Japanese encephalitis vaccine is particularly relevant right now with the first major endemic outbreak in Australia that has recently results in the patient deaths in multiple Australian states.”

NEW GUINNESS® WORLD RECORD - WORLD'S BIGGEST BUG HOTEL

DUROR, Scotland, April 1 (Bernama-GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On Monday 28th March 2022, conservation company Highland Titles achieved a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORD® for the world’s biggest bug/insect hotel, which means Highland Titles are “Officially Amazing!”®

A photo accompanying this announcement is available at https://www.globenewswire.com/NewsRoom/AttachmentNg/c6d0e716-dbd2-4737-934d-660fac898b70

The 199.9 cubic metre structure is located on the Highland Titles Nature Reserve at Duror in the Scottish Highlands and already houses a variety of species. It breaks the previous world record of 89.37 cubic metres, which was held by the Polish Association of Developers in Warsaw, Poland.

The world record-breaking bug hotel was made using felled sitka spruce from the nature reserve, masonry bricks, bamboo canes, wood chips, forest bark, wildflower seeds, clay pipes and strawberry netting.

A photo accompanying this announcement is available at https://www.globenewswire.com/NewsRoom/AttachmentNg/8f7ca5a3-5c5c-4d71-a475-daceb2ca6aff

“This record-breaking initiative is about the environmental message,” says Douglas Wilson, CEO of Highland Titles. “We bought this land in 2006 when it was a poorly performing commercial forestry plantation of non-native Sitka Spruce.

“Like much of the Highlands, it was inappropriately planted in the late 1980s with no thought or consideration given to biodiversity. Using these same trees for something that puts nature first symbolises that the world has changed, and we hope our efforts will inspire others. We’d be delighted if someone beat our record in the future!”

Nature Reserve Manager, Stewart Borland, was part of a team of 7 who were involved in its construction which started in September 2021 and was completed in early March 2022. In addition to the environmental message, Mr Borland hopes that it encourages people to visit:

“In 2019, we had more than 10,000 visitors to the nature reserve from all over the world. The pandemic really put a dent in our visitor numbers, so we hope that this - together with the new track which is adored by cyclists - will encourage people to visit now that travel is opening up again. The more visitors we get, the more people can see the work that we're doing.”

About Highland Titles

Highland Titles began in 2006 with a mission to conserve Scotland, one square foot at a time. The conservation project - now encompassing 5 nature reserves and over 800 acres of Scottish wilderness - is funded by selling gift-sized souvenir plots of land.

The Highland Titles community of souvenir plot owners are invited to style themselves as the Lords and Ladies of Glencoe™. Over 300,000 plots of land have been sold to date.

The Highland Titles Nature Reserve near Glencoe is an official 4* tourist attraction and, according to Trip Advisor, one of the most popular nature reserves in the country.
