China´s Hangzhou archaeological site added to UNESCO World Heritage List

KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 (Bernama) -- China's Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City in Hangzhou is on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation's (UNESCO) World Heritage List as a cultural site.
According to Hangzhou Liangzhu Archaeological Site Administrative District Management Committee, it is the third world cultural heritage site in Hangzhou after the West Lake and Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.
The decision was supported by World Heritage Committee members during the 43rd session in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku, making a total of 55 properties across China being listed.
The World Heritage Committee said the property testified to the existence of a regional state with a unified belief system and supported economically by rice-cultivating agriculture in late Neolithic China.
The Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City is presenting the far underestimated Neolithic Age in China to the world, highlighting the over 5,000 year-old civilisation and rewriting both the Chinese and global histories.
