BANK MUAMALAT'S SHOPPING TREAT FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN

KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 (Bernama) - They were all smiles as each of the 56 underprivileged children and orphans from two welfare homes received vouchers to buy Hari Raya outfits at a shopping centre here today.

The youngsters from Baitun Nurrawdhah orphanage in Setiawangsa and the Nur Syaheera Charity Foundation in Cheras, lined up excitedly to get the RM50 vouchers from Bank Muamalat deputy chief executive officer Khairul Kamarudin.

Khairul said the donation was to bring some cheer to the orphans so that they could enjoy the Aidilfitri celebration just like other children.

"I'm touched to see the excitement in their faces and how their eyes lit up when picking up clothes that they like," he said at the Bank Muamalat Shopping Programme With Underprivileged Children at a city shopping centre.

Khairul said RM25,000 was allocated for the shopping programme held for the children during the festive season over the last few years.

Nur Fatin Zulaikha Samsudin, 14, from the Nur Syaheera Welfare Organisation said that she was thrilled to be able to shop this year.

"We who come from orphanages are unable to afford new clothes every year. Alhamdulillah (Praise Be to God) this year, we had the chance to buy new clothes through Bank Muamalat,” she said.
