Merck Foundation seeks 'Stay At Home' Media Recognition Awards applications for Asian journalists



KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 -- Merck Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Merck KGaA Germany is calling for ‘Stay at Home’ Media Recognition Awards applications for journalists in Asian countries.

Themed ‘Raising Awareness on how to Stay Safe and keep Physically and Mentally Healthy during Coronavirus Lockdown’, the awards are open to all journalists from print, online, radio and multimedia platforms.

According to the foundation’s chief executive officer, Dr Rasha Kelej in a statement, the ‘Stay at Home’ Media Recognition Award will encourage media to sensitise the communities.

“Raising awareness about coronavirus in our communities will contribute to supporting health workers who are at the forefront of COVID-19 response - providing high quality, respectful treatment and care, it will also enhance their great efforts in leading community dialogue to address fears and questions. Our hearts and thoughts are with them”.

More than one winner will be chosen from each category. The most creative and influential media work aiming to raise awareness and sensitising communities about this alarming topic at a regular basis will be eligible to win.

Entries can be submitted until June 30 via email to submit@merck-foundation.com, along with details (including name, gender, country, media house, email address and mobile number) and entry as an attachment.

For each platform category, the prize money is up to US$500. (US$1 = RM4.322)
