KUALA LUMPUR, April 12 (Bernama) -- The
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) will be participating in
the 2018 Commonwealth Business Forum in London from April 23 to 25.
The Commonwealth Business Forum takes place immediately
before the 25th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting which the UK will host
for the first time since 1997.
Both the Commonwealth Business Forum and Heads of Government
Meeting will bring together around 5,000 top leaders from business, politics,
academia and culture.
The Commonwealth Business Forum draws together businesses
critical to trade and investment leadership with governments to debate the
issues facing their countries in 2018 and beyond. This top-level business
gathering is only accessed by special invitation.
ACCA chief executive, Helen Brand said with 143,500 members
and almost 300,000 students across the Commonwealth, ACCA truly understood the
potential that improved trade links could offer member nations economic
growth and development.
“As global trade flows shift, we must ensure that the
Commonwealth is strategically placed to thrive in a global world. Ensuring
citizens of the Commonwealth hold the right skills and are able to seize
the opportunities offered by new technologies will be vital to realising this
once-in-a-generation opportunity,” she added.
With an estimated combined GDP of US$13 trillion by
2020, the Commonwealth stands not to be just a leading force in
trade, but also a leader in driving up the standards and values that underpin
business across the member nations and beyond.
At the two-and-a-half day Business Forum,
ACCA will have the honour of chairing a Commonwealth SME Forum with 50
high-profile speakers and delegates, including ministers from Kenya and Sri
Lanka.
